Monkey Business Playing Around

This sock monkey toy I created before leaving on vacation, it's a surprise, but by the time you read this post she will be delivered to the red-headed baby girl and giving her big hugs with her long red arms and legs!

I've never made a sock monkey before, and I didn't have the right brand of sock, the traditional sock with the red heels. These were tube socks, boot style with red tops. But I worked around it and came up with this little girl monkey, in her stocking cap and sundress.

She can sit with her arms crossed, and she has long eyelashes and a happy embroidered smile, with dimples in the corners of her mouth.

She doesn't mind if you see her in her pantaloons, she will just pull her reversible sundress right back on and stick her hand in one of her pockets. It's hot in Louisiana, sometimes you just have to stay cool any way you can!

I'm hoping she's a big hit with the baby, and becomes a favorite friend. She doesn't have a name yet, I thought that should come later. Anything come to mind right off the top of your heads?

Oh this takes me back in such a happy way! My Gramma made us sock monkeys, all 24 of us grand children. We loved them to tatters. This one is gorgeous with her little pantaloons, sundress, and sweet smile. I'm sure she'll be loved. Stay cool. We've actually dropped below 90F right now.

Popping in (stopping the grandbaby hugging and kissing just for a moment, she needs a nap!) to say that Ms Sockmonkey was a big hit. And the sippy cup that came along is working great for the big girl to drink out of, and it's the same color and shape as grandmama's cup - twin cups! YAY!

It sounds as if you are already have a most wonderful time grandma!! You did a great job on a most adorable sock monkey!! Sock monkeys are one of those rare children toys that has remained a favorite no matter how much each suceeding generation seems to be more "wired" in then the next one. But then hugging a "puter" is a hard thing to do :)

Take care and make all kinds of wonderful memories!!
