Gift and Giving, Friends and Family

I think I mentioned that I have several birthdays in the month of August. I've been making some special gifts and mementos.

So I thought for this week I'd mention and show some recent gifts, and at the end I'll post some photos from the recent swap exchange.

My mother's birthday is coming up. I've made necklaces for her, and this time I thought I'd make something for her keyring.

The photograph is from an old family album, she sent it to me a while back. It's my maternal grandmother. The words say "She is thinking of her child" and that would be my mother and her siblings.

I cast the tiny key in pewter, gave it a coppery patina and added it to the piece, since it's meant for a key chain, and has a very small copper lock as the dangle. Everything has a coppertone cast to it.

I have to wrap it up and post it, and I hope she enjoys it.

Thank you all for the kind words. I had to make up a paper box for wrapping, so it can go out soon.

I got an email from my sister, she likes it and thinks my mom will like it, that's good news!
