Pouring and Sanding, There Goes the Manicure

Every time I use the power tools to sand and clean up the resin word charms, I seem to mess up my fingernails.

Right now my fingernails are all oddly slanted, some are flattened across the top. They're all crazy looking, all different and none quite right.

I try to be careful, but somehow I manage to sand off my fingernails with the power tools.

I also end up covered head to toe with dust, I have to take the mini-Shark vacuum to myself after I finish. And to the floor, counters... it goes everywhere.

Here's the results of the clean up. I decided to just make some simple charms with holes drilled, I'll add jump rings and twisted wire for hangers.

Do you see the little holly berry charm? The first of November seemed like a good time to start adding a little end of year cheer to the designs.

I love the old fashioned greeting card designs in the art of the late 1800's, so quaint and sentimental. And the vintage matchbook art. Unique.

So this is what I've been working on today. I finally got some resin set up, poured and cleaned up. It cured all night and I finished it this morning.

I have someone waiting for a special charm, I need to go cast the bezel in pewter now.

But first I'm taking a break for a little lunch.

I have purchased some of your items from etsy. But I wanted to know if you will be listing any of the charms you have featured in this post. If so, I'll add some more charms to my order.

Sandra, I did list a few and have more to photograph. Seems like that takes the longest time for me!

If you don't see what you're looking for in the next couple of days click on the EMAIL THE RINGLEADER OF LLYYNN and send me a message.

Wonderful designs! I've given up on having nice nails. With the constant polishing and using steel wool I'm lucky to have fingernails at all.

Someday, if I can remember, I'll take a photo of my hands after I've been working. I'm not talking that my fingernail polish is chipped (what polish - HA!) I'm talking my fingernails - or what's left of them - are pointing in opposite directions and the tops of my nails have been sanded.

The buffing is different - I get a shiny finish on my fingernails while the polymer gets its shine on too, LOL.
