Dark and Lovely

Diana over at VintageBlueStudio told me she had made a necklace for a special event, using one of my hand charms that I created.

It was intended to resemble jet, the fossilized wood that was so popular in Victorian times. I lined the holes with black metal to protect them and used a dark, annealed iron twisted wire for the loops.

Don't you just love what she made?

It has just that antique, romantic look I was seeking when I made the hand. It's feminine and sweet, and just a little bit gothic like the Victorian mourning jewelry that was made using real jet. Pop over and read about the elements she used, it's facinating. I wouldn't have thought of it, but they're perfect.

I need to make some more pieces like this, the poor
ExpeditionD shop is down to almost bare shelves. Maybe this will get me going on creating some more items like this!
