Play Date and Giveaway

Yesterday I went to my friend Cindy's house for a creativity play date. We haven't had one in quite a while, and I was glad I could go, it's good to get out of the studio sometimes and meet up with other people who love to create, too. The ideas were flying!

Cindy is very talented in many different areas, she is a lampwork beadmaker and many other things too, including having written a pivotal book on lampwork beadmaking. She had just come back from taking classes in Dayton Beach, we all wanted to see what she had created in class.

We balled up copper wire with a torch and heat patinaed copper sheet metal. All of us made one of these beauties, it's a pea leaf with tendrils and vines. I even made a black bead and copper wire necklace for mine, with a simple hook and loop clasp on it.

To me it resembles the leaves in fall, with the bright red berries left from the last of summer and the leaves that have turned colors, a tribute to nature. Maybe it reminds you of something else, who knows?

I thought some of you might enjoy having this piece, so I'm going to do a giveaway, the first one in 2010. Okay you lurkers out there in blog-land, here's your chance to get in the running and have me send you a piece of jewelry! Post on this one, won't you?

If you'd like to be in the running to have me send this fall necklace, post a reply here to this question:

What would you rather see me make more of in 2010, and why?

Finished jewelry? Clasps and Toggles? Bezels? Focal beads? Earrings? Resin? Cast Pewter? Fused Silver Links? Fused Glass Faux Gemstones? Or you pick the item from your past favorites ... and tell me why you chose that selection.

I'd really like the feedback, and thanks in advance, I'll announce the winner next Saturday - so post away!

I do like the pewter and I think your resin pieces with words are great. I wonder what the next big thing for you is, Lynn? Whatever it is it will be fabulous (and I am sure that I will want it!)!
Enjoy the day!

Your pewter pieces and perhaps how you do them?

I would love to see more pewter and more polymer faux-tiques. I love my black glove piece so much so I'd like to see what else you can do in polymer.

Lynn, I love all of your pieces but am articularly fond of your pewter especially combined with fused glass. I love the contrast of the shine of the two different materials. The pewter is reflective while the fused glass seems to glow from within.

I vote for the cast pewter - especially the Frenchie pieces cuz I luv the emblems, metals, fleur-de-lis, etc., etc. Oh, and the wings, too.

Clasps and toggles would be great - I never have any "special" ones when I want them!

My favorite would have to be the pewter - it is so awesome. It looks good with any style. The necklace is great.

Some pewter charms suitable for guys would be fantastic. Very hard to find 'blokey' stuff and I would love to make some pieces for my 28 year old son and his friends.

Hi Lynn,

Oh gosh I'm so far behind on my rounds!! I can't believe it's Thursday and I'm only now getting here for the week. I most whole heartedly agree with Sharon and LeAnn You have become the pewter star. And now that you are perfecting working in smaller sizes I love it. SO I vote for pewter in all it's incarnations!! Especially your fauxtiques!!

Have a wonderful and creative evening!!

I just found your blog and started reading. No one sent me, no one told me there was a giveaway. It was just me blog hopping. And I found your awesome blog where pewter and craftsmanship go hand in hand. Totally incredible pieces, especially the fleur de lis pieces.

Well, I'm guessing you like the pewter, LOL! And that's really good news because I love making it. Sounds like birds and wings are still popular, that's neat.

Cindy, you're a sleuth! Yes, Cindy J. lives here in Saint Louis and she's tons of fun. But I wish I could go visit you sometime ... boy that could be great fun!

I have been doing some more polymer clay recently and working in a bit of glass. I guess it's just what I do, moving from media to media - thank goodness mixed media is an actual thing to do!

And lately I'm working in some fiber stuff too - can I get more hours in the day, please?

Thanks, all, new friends and old.
