Key Strokes Giveaway

I took the little key charm, and put a hole right in the center for a dangle. I was thinking of a chain attached to the end and the open key top, with the dangle hanging horizontally.

But I bet you can think of a bunch more ideas!

So post them here, and you might be picked at random to have one of these little key charms to use in your design.

How would you design using this fun key shape, with a hole in the center?

I'll announce the winner of the GIVEAWAY next week!

I am really digging the horizontal pieces I have designed of late. I would take that key an put it on top of another of your little houses and use that center hole to put some dangles down. The big hole on the key would be the clasp. I made something similar called Coming Home that should be hitting the Vintaj airwaves tomorrow! Watch for it!
Enjoy the day!

What a great idea! I would use that middle hole to rivet the key to etched sheet metal to make a larger focal pendant. So fun!

Hmmm. sometimes it takes a awhile for a good idea to come to me, but right off the bat, I'm thinking I'd wire a peruvian opal briolette to that middle hole. And string the pendant with some citrine, and wide strips of leather with a second strand of chain.

Such a cute key. I've been collecting them and wearing them on necklaces for the last 20 years, way before they were the "in" thing. I would attach some chain from the ring end to the middle with a few flower and/or crystal dangles.

I might use it as the toggle for a large clasp...the hole in the middle would attach to the long part of the necklace. Then the other hole could be used for a few fun sparklies. Or the key could be the toggle to a wide beadwork cuff. I like to make some of my cuffs 50mm wide. I love Molly's idea of riveting!

It takes me a while to think of an idea, I have to hold the beads in my hand for a while. The first thing that came to my mind was to wire wrap beads to the center using the hole for stability. I also like the toggle idea, very clever.

The first thing I thought was toggle clasp! It would be so cute!

I need that cute little key to make me a stamp design for my pottery pendants....
but to make a pendant out of the key itself, I would have a small piece of chain with about 5 or so small earthy glazed distressed hearts hanging off of it.

I see the key used horizontally in a lariat design since the larger, top keyhole is plenty big enough to accommodate various "slide-through" chains, leathers, cords, ribbons, etc.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I envision MANY cool lariat designs! I just need to win the key to play and experiment - thanks so much for this giveaway!

Lovely pendant...great colors and shape. Would definitely use it as a horizontal pendant with dangles hanging from the center hole and the big open hole. Maybe multi strands of pearls or seed beads looped through the open hole back up and around. Would be fun to play with.

I think this would be really cute hanging vertically from a leather thong, one end at the large hole then strung through the small hole and knotted. With a few vintage beads on the thong. Then dangle small heart and lock charms from the bottom hole.

I really like the keys with the holes in them. I could see myself incorporating one of the keys with seed beads.

Oh sweet! I picture this being used as a connector in a long necklace, with maybe one of your polymer houses, some colorful lampwork beads, earthy stones, and dark chain.

I would use the key on the side of a necklace with the ring part of the key used as part of a toggle clasp, and the second hole on the key used to string chain to the other side, while the bottom hole would used to wire wrap a second "chain" of beads. So it would be a double-strand necklace with a side toggle.

I LOVE KEYS. Have just found your blog via Erin TesoriTrovati - love what she has done with your work :-) I think your idea is great and that's what came to mind before even reading what you had suggested, but something else I thought of was to hang the key vertically as part of a 2-strand necklace with the top strand connected to the open hole and the lower strand connected to the middle, and a dangle hanging from the bottom. Or even make a 3-strand necklace using the same principle!

I would hang it vertical and then dangle the handmade heart (from your etsy) from the center. Then dangle a vintage chandelier crystal from the heart. Then I would call it: "key to my heart." I love using vintage elements.

I think I would try it as the loop of a clasp (for the front) w/ an accent dangle from the center hole

I'm really impressed with your putting a hole in the key -- how in the world did you manage that? I've tried a drill and skew off and end up drilling nice jagged edges across the bench top instead.

Love your work!
