White Glove Treatment

I like sentimental, ornate jewelry charms. That's pretty easy to tell, when you look at the things I make.

You know the old style valentine cards, that have the dainty hand holding the bouquet of flowers?

Or the watch fob that holds onto the watch chain?

This sweet, sentimental hand is like that. I meant it to look like carved ivory. It has a luninous look to it. It's holding a brass locket. All ready for a special photo or piece of artwork inside.

The locket opens. The dainty, feminine hand holding the loop has the locket tightly in a grip.

I want to make another one, this time in black. That looks like carved jet or ebony.

Where have I been? Well, a bit offline.

We had a lightning strike at the house and it knocked out a bit of technology.

The internet, cable and phone.
The cable modem and telephone modem.
The telephones and one of the computers hooked to the cable.
The TIVO unit that was catching my back episodes of BONES for me. Rats!

So if you've emailed me or contacted me and you don't hear from me, we're still fixing things back up.

There wasn't any fire, and the electrical circuits seem fine. But the CLAPPER that turns off one of the TV sets is fried. It's weird the things that were affected.

And in case you're thinking "you should have surge protectors on all that stuff" - WE DID. The strike was so close I guess it was too much. We had UPS backups on a lot of the things, and those should definitely have protected the circuits.

I guess nature is just like that sometimes. So please have patience. I hope to be back completely online soon! In the meantime though, I have very little to distract me from things going on in the studio!

Always a silver, lightning struck lining, I guess.

Lynn, I love that hand and I can see it glossy black too. We had a lightning strike like that also recently that knocked out a few things on surge protectors. Those storms are bit eerie aren't they. Good luck with getting it all sorted. Have a good weekend.

LeAnn, we got the phones back online, thankfully. I discovered that the amplifier and cd player in the studio is knocked out. It seems to be everything on one side of the house.

We are fine, the dog is fine. But things with circuits in them are not feeling too well. Or feeling much of anything at all.

Good thing the bagel place has WiFi!

This white glove would go perfect for Alice in Wonderland's rabbit. Very unique!

Hi Lynn,

Sorry to hear mother nature did a number on your technology.

Love the ivory hand. I can remember when I was about 5 years old, I found a gold-tone hand clip -- I think it was for clipping your fancy pressed hanky to your purse or something. Anyway, that is what I thought of immediately when I saw your new hand.

Love it! Good luck on recovering your fried technology. Check with your insureance company -- there may be a new tivo in it for your.

Oye Lynn!!

Oh can I feel your pain!!!! There is nothing worse then Mother Nature winning an argument with your Mother Board!!!:) There are always a number of people every rainy season here that have every piece of electronics in their house fried with a lightening storm. :( So far knock on wood we have been okay. Course I'm sure it's my little electrical engineer who insists we not only have every thing on surge protectors but with the first sound of thunder he runs around the house like a crazy man unplugging everything.

Sending all kinds of positive chi your way.
Pattie ;)

I am so glad that you are alright! My parents house in FL had a lightning strike when they weren't there and it basically started a fire that gutted the roof. It is hard enough to build in FL but to take off a roof? Difficult to say the least. Four years later it was habitable....Take your time and do what you need to do. Enjoy the day!
Oh, and I like the little hand. Sweet! Erin
