Earth and Fire

I'm having fun making lots of hearts. It's an ancient shape with many meanings.

I've made simple ones, with a single color.

These are more complex patterns. I like them a lot. They're very glossy.

They remind me of antique woodcut designs. Sanded and polished to a high sheen.

Star charts, or map legends with the four directions.

And the four substances.

Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

These rose colored hearts remind me of detailed batik dyed fabrics.

The changing colors, the thickness of the lines.

They look really old, like artifacts.

I made pairs, so they could be used together as earrings. It's tricky, to make them match. Even though they're unique, because they're hand colored.

They feel special, like old posters with vintage designs on them.

Your things just get better and better. I'm so happy with the Asian beads and heart and wing that I ordered from you. They are lovely.

Have a great week-end.

I'm so thrilled you're pleased, Carolyn. I'm itching for the weekend, it's now 4 12-hour days in a row this week at the word factory (but who's counting, right) and no time in the studio. My fingers are tingling to get ahold of some jewelry tools!

Hi LLYYNN, these are very fine pieces. Kudos to you! Don't worry too much about making them identical for earrings...like Kate Drew-Wilkinson pointed out in her book "How to Be Successful in the Bead Jewelry Business", you can often get a wonderful effect from pairing similar but unique beads. :)

I was just going to say your work gets better and better but Carolyn beat me to it, and it is so true. I love these beautiful hearts. I'm glad you are keeping up the good and lovely work.

Hi, Dave, thanks for the compliment. It sometimes feels like you're pointing folks to your site from my blog, but you're too nice to do something like that!

Feel free to point to my blog from your website!

These are SOOOOOO Cool! I love the Star Chart Heart - Earth you have listed on etsy! They grab me and pull me in! I'm a sucker for anything with a graphic edge.

Thanks Gaea, I have to admit I like that design myself, but it's much more labor intensive - I only hope the extra work shows up! And my fiber and fabric inclinations are driving me that direction - whoo boy!
