Wander Quiet Sanctuary

Words facinate me, and take my mind to places far away and long ago.

I've been playing with words, to create these little baubles to look like vintage ornaments.

They are lightweight, long and dangly with lots of shine and sheen, but very antique looking although I just finished putting the last of them together last night.

They can be worn as jewelry, and used as a decoration on the holiday tree or wreath. Put onto a gift package they would be an extra little present.

I was thinking of the Victorian holiday treats in England, the snappers and poppers. They have a slick clear wrapping of vintage style papers like the paper poppers full of gifts and sweets. But I wanted these to have their own special little message. For more photos of all of them sweep over to the Etsy shop.

One says
'QUIET' - One says 'WANDER' and the other, the globe looking round one, says 'SANCTUARY' - eventually they gather their meaning from your interpretations and ideas.

The interior of a church is called the sanctuary.

There are birding areas that are protected, they are bird sanctuaries. The idea of protection, comfort. Safety.

The word 'quiet' brings to my mind the lyrics of the song 'Silent Night' - all is calm, all is bright. The stillness of the snow, that special silence that falls when snowflakes cover the world. A hush.

A mind at rest, at peace. Quiet.

And the word 'wander' reminds me of the lyrics in the carol 'I wonder as I wander, Out under the sky' - the mind and perhaps the feet also, wandering in the morning sunrise, without definite destination.

Unfettered. Free.

Combined with my faux crystals that have been frosted and aged, and my handdyed costume pearls, these little dangly baubles have a glitz and glamour in the light.

Just in time for the new
Art Bead Scene challenge for December - the theme is 'Putting On The Glitz' - love that shiny bling thing! Pop over and catch the rules, find out how you could win special and marvelous goodies this month.

What's your favorite seasonal word - what would you like to see spelled out on one of these little pretties?

These new lovelies are great! How do you find the time to create so many different things? I'm jealous, LOL. Thanks for all the wonderful goodies you sent for our exchange. Can't wait to use them!

I guess it happens late at night and very, very early in the morning. I'm usually up before 5:00 a.m. even on the weekends.

As for so many different things, I probably should solidify and concentrate on just one. But I have too much fun doing lots of things!

These are beautiful. They're very warm and inviting. A good holiday word? Joy :) It's the only time of the year I can find my name on anything!
