Matchbook Art

When I travel I try to remember to grab some matchbooks to keep as mementos.

I have a basket with old matchbooks in it, from places I've lived. Or restaurants I've enjoyed. Sometimes the matchbook outlives the restaurant.

I have matchbooks from Ireland and Scotland, from the visits there.

These pendants are made using artwork from vintage matchbooks.

You can tell by the lettering and patterns some are from far away places.

They have colorful and fun designs on them. I love the bright distinctive colors.

I like every thing about these, the shape, the hangers, colours, images. I especially like the shape. Every time I see your resin pieces I want to try using resin.

I'm attracted to the colors and shape of these pendants--very pretty.

LeAnn, it's funny you say that, because when I look at your pots it makes me want to go get some stoneware clay and play!

Thanks, Sharon. I love old artwork, especially the kind where you can still see the printing dots and the places where the colors are a little mismatched. Makes me think of older time. Everything is so glossy and shiny now, don't you think?

These are really cool Lynn and they give me an idea. Gambling is unlawful in Mexico. The way they get around it is to play "Loteria" (bingo)the cards have different letters with matching figures on them For an example go here; http://www.festivalofmexico.com/loterias.html

They might be kinda fun to use like your match books. If you would like I'll send you some of the cards. There are small size sets that are about the size of your match books. Because it's "paper" I don't even need a "mule"!!! I can send it up with the couriers!! :) Email me your mailing address if you would like some and I'll get them off to you. :)

Great idea, Pattie. I've heard of the Loteria cards but I've never seen any! Now I'm curious, I'll have to do some research...

Come to think of it, regular BINGO cards might be fun, too.

I love old-fashioned images, they take me back.
