Loteria con Mexico Milagros

I am so lucky to have giving friends! Pattie Wells in Mazatlan, Mexico ran across some cool ephemera that she thought I'd like, and she sent it to me.

It's quite a haul. Lots of fun images on Loteria cards. Very exotic and cool. And soda pop bottle caps! Yellow ones ... how different! How did she know that I bring back bottle caps from traveling myself?

I need to scan them and reduce their size, so they're small enough to use in jewelry. Full-sized, they're about the size of playing cards, maybe even larger.

And look at the sweet milagros too. I'm thinking I need to hang them all on a chain and wear them, to turn my luck around. What a week, what a month it's been! Maybe this will help.

The images are graphic and colorful.

I finally got time with the camera to capture images of these goodies. Isn't she sweet? I have such nice on-line buddies, it is astounding.

I took a trip to Central Mexico years ago, in 1986, and one of the things I brought back was a pitcher in earthenware. Imaging getting something that fragile back on an airplane, I must have been crazy! It looks a little like these tiny ones. Do you think they'd be silly to wear as earrings?

Nope, for me, I think it would be perfect to have tiny clay and copper cups hanging from earwires, now that I think it over. Hee Hee!

Thank you, Pattie - for the goodies, and for your kindnesses - they are many!

I love, love, love all of that colourful Mexican imagery. One of the best things about living where I do is the spill over across the border of many of those good things. Milagros have a very special place in my heart. All of those good thoughts in one tiny image. When you see them tacked together, one prayer at a time, in the old cathedrals it is quite awe inspiring. Definitely, string them together. Hope your week improves and no more nasty electrical surprises.

You are most welcome Lynn :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you create with them. I think the copper and clay cups would be great to make into earrings. In fact they were a bracelet when I picked them up at a second hand store. They are considered as talismen for prosperity, a large loving home and family :) There is a slightly larger size of clay vessels that are hung on the wall in traditional kitchens for the same reasons. Freida&Diego created a mural of 2 love birds with the pots in their kitchen. You can see it in all of the historical pictures of Freida's home.:)
