I remember the old colors in hardbound cloth book covers. I sometimes wonder if they were originally a bright colorful shade and they just faded with time.
This charm is made to resemble another old book cover, this time with the purple blue-green color I remember. With the words "The Illustrated Studio" on the front.
The reverse has floral designs, sort of faint and faded, like they were left in the sun too long, maybe on a sunny windowsill long ago.
These are made from scratch, I didn't cut up an old book to make them, but I wanted them to have that same feeling and look.
The town's library where I grew up had a whole section of books with a similar look. The classics by Dickens and Collins. And the juvenile storybooks.
I like the feeling of age and wear, like it was saved as a favorite long ago.

Last night I got some sort of tummy trouble bug and was sick-sick-sick for a few hours before I crashed and slept. I was fine, ate dinner and then WHAMMO I was down for the count.
Needless to say I didn't get any photos taken. And this morning I'm just sipping Ginger Ale, my cure-all. And off I go to the day job, hoping it was just a quick bug and it's all over.
I am not a good patient when I'm sick. Sort of grumpy and cranky. Wish me well ... in all sense of the word!

Oh how nice to wake up and sit down to my coffee and have your post be the first one on my list. I love these book inspired medallions. Like you, those old musty cloth bound books are favourites of mine. There is something nice about the feel of the cloth and the embossed covers.
Hope you are well today. Take care, these bugs going around are not so nice. I know from recent experience.
these area beautiful and you achieved the effect perfectly! i do hope you are feeling better - after anything stomach i tend to consume a steady diet of saltines and ginger ale for quite a while!
Good luck, I hope you are better. Soooo many things going around this year, it is getting worse. I have 4 kids and they all have something.
