Starting Anew
I thought I'd post some photos of some work I did this weekend while cleaning up the studio. I decided to play with copper and pewter together.
I made this necklace, I really like it.
I used some copper and etched the words "PARIS 15 JUL" on it, then rounded it in the dapping block.
It looks very old and worn. Combined with a dark pewter Eiffel Tower, it starts to have a story of its own.
There were balloon races over the skyline of Paris in the old days, the clear faceted lucite bead reminds me of an airy balloon high in the sky, very light and fun.
The costume pearls were just dyed this weekend, they're a nice light gray color, they have a worn and vintage look to them that goes well with the aged feeling of this piece.
I'm pleased with the way it turned out, I think I need to test wear it though, just to be sure!
It's the least I can do...

You should test it for several months. It is a beautiful necklace!
Perfection!
Gorgeous, I'm loving those pearls!
The copper and pewter are a great combination and those soft grey pearls are lovely in this necklace.
Thanks, friends, I'm happy you like this new piece. I want to keep the Artfest momentum going strong as long as I can. Especially in a nice clean studio!
Very romantic! I love mixing metals. And your pewter pieces give such a well-worn look to the piece that make it truly special. Enjoy the day! Erin
That looks great Lynn. I pulled out one of your eiffel towers the other day and started to design. Love what you did. You'll get a ton of compliments on that beauty! Very nice. Is that studio still clean? ha ha Hugs, Riki
i love this piece Llyynn...Yeah I know what you mean about the cleaning...I did a post about it myself...It lasts about day and then its back to chaos...
Thanks for the compliment, LeAnn, I keep trying for the soft aged looks in the pearls, it's a matter of gauging the dye strength and catching them just at the right time. I have some ecru ones in dye right now, I better check them tonight.
Riki, I'd love to see what you do with the Eiffel Tower charm, I know you'll come up with something fantastic.
And yes, trying hard to keep the studio clean, I had to grind some pewter and brush finish it and there's some dust involved but using the little Shark vacuum helps keep the dust down. Just have to remember to USE it though, LOL
New to your blog and I enjoyed the visit. I would be happy with this result too. Have a wonderful day.
Lynn,
Great job! Love the piece.
ArtFest provided such wonderful inspiration. I finally updated my blog today.
Welcome Artfesters - you're ahead of me in posting your photos, I need to get that going because I have some great ones from Show and Tell night that I need to share!
It is a beautiful piece, even more so after having seen it in the flesh!
