Today is my day to do the Studio Saturday post at the Art Bead Scene Blog. I'm talking about buttons. Their quaint historical background. Their origins and why they're called "buttons."
If you comment on my post, you might win something!
Lately I've been playing with a bunch of old buttons, seeing how I can use them to make charms and connectors.
I love the old style shell and mother of pearl buttons.
These two are my most recent button collages.
I'm thinking of combining them with the bowtie pewter piece.
You know.
Buttons and Bows?
Very old fashioned and sentimental, I know.

I Love that teal button focal in your Shop!!! And this long button focal youve made is pretty wonderful!
I really liked your post on ABS today. Now you've got me all started on buttons. Shame on you, I really don't need another obsession ... ;-)
Joke aside - a big thanks!
Off to check your shop for pretties now.
All my best,
Malin
I saw your post on ABS earlier and commented there, bu I do LOVE what you are doing with buttons. and the Buttons and Bows idea is just charming.

Oh Lynn, I LOVE this idea. I use so many mop buttons, just add that warm touch, and a nice contrast with the pewter. I am having so much fun making up all the necklaces right now. I need more birds!! Love combining the silks with your pieces. Hugs, Riki
I also commented on the ABS post. I'm sure I don't have the massive button collections some of the other folks around here do, but I suppose I could almost fill a large popcorn tub with the buttons I have. I'm enjoying seeing you using them in such a new way!
I love buttons. I really liked your post on ABS I was reading it on my phone and the pictures looked amazing even on a tiny phone screen.

thank you, dear friends, I'm a big button fan, too. Little portable, practical pieces of history. (couldn't come up with a "p" word for history ... )
Great potential here. i love the look of the charms and connected buttons!

What wonderful use of buttons! I love buttons, and have been using them in my jewelry.
Buttons are so basically appealing. What you've done to make them connectors makes me want to get out all of mine and pour them onto the bed! And believe me, it's enough of a mess already.
I think a lot of us started with grandma's button tin. Then graduated to beads, more beads, altered beads, altered buttons now; FAB job! I'm going to have to get out the soldering iron and experiment too, with the particular buttons I have. (Then eat sorbet - I recommend raspberry)
